Queensland Training Awards

Mary Bolling completed the Diploma of Project Management with Train@CQUniversity across 12 months in 2014/15, and juggled the study with her work as CQUniversity Dual Sector Communications Officer. Experienced project manager David Bryan delivered the training, and supported Mary and several of her colleagues through both written assignments and recognition of prior learning.

Mary said the qualification was invaluable for her work within CQUniversity’s merger with CQ TAFE.

“I was already a qualified journalist, and what I learned in the Diploma helped me structure a whole project around telling the stories behind the merger, and sharing the journey with the Central Queensland community,” she said.

The project management skills also supported Mary’s event management in a variety of volunteer roles, including Gladstone Roller Derby league executive, and board member of Gladstone Mission to Seafarers. The Vocational Student of the Year for Central Queensland award recognised all of these initiatives.
